Soe
Soe is a small rural town some 110km east of Kupang. It is a very scenic area, located in a mountainous region of West Timor. The people greet visitors with charmfull smiles and much curiosity. Many people in this area also rely on traditional housing. From my impression and conversations with locals, people here doesnt choose a more traditional lifestyle because that was their number one choice, they had no other choice. This is one of West Timor`s poorest areas, mainly because of the prolonged dry seasons and land that is not well suited for agriculture. To get here catch a bus from Kupang, takes around 4 hours.
