Type of activity observed: The volcano has been relatively calm lately, and was at normal alert level (Indonesian color “green level”) when I visited. The emission sources and intensity of steam emissions did not seem to have changed much since my last visit, in March 2012. The steam plume emitted at the Kawah Baru (new crater) might be the exception, as I think the emission might have just slightly increased since last year. Our local guide also added that he had noticed a few new fumaroles that had become active in the recent months, and some that have died out, – a normal change to an active volcano.
